Maximize the last days of summer

I can't believe we only have one week left before school starts. We are trying to maximize our play time while we have some left. So, we have scheduled the following things, and we'd love to have you join us for any or all of it! Please let me know if you are planning on coming -- that way I won't change my mind last minute and just sit at home :)

  • Tuesday: Esker Point Beach, 10:00 AM -- planning on staying for a long time
  • Wednesday: Providence Zoo 10:30 AM
  • Thursday: Esker Point Beach, 10:00 AM -- planning on staying for a while again
  • Friday: Mystic Seaport 10:00 AM -- children's museum, crafts, -- planning on eating their wonderful fish & chips for lunch

Hope to see you sometime this week!

8/20/08--Providence Zoo

I'm going to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how about you, you, you???

OK, bad song intro, but we'd love to see you at the Providence zoo this week.

Let's meet in the parking lot near the front entrance at 10:30 AM. We'll plan on a picnic lunch and staying there for a while.

If you're coming, please RSVP by email or phone so that we make sure to wait and watch for you. I'll have my cell phone, so you can call that if you get lost or are late.

8/12/08 -- Esker Point -- 10 AM

redo! Let's try this again -- back-up is my house for rain problems.

I thought we'd go to Esker Point this week, starting at around 10 AM and staying through until about 2 PM. Is anyone interested?

Any other ideas for the last two weeks before school starts?

Chuck E Cheese it is

We'll meet at Chuck E Cheese at 11:30 -- The address for Chuck E Cheese is: 389 N. Frontage Rd. New London (860) 444-2526.

I expect to be there for a while, but I'm hoping to leave by 1:30 PM. :)

What to do?

AAAAAHHHHH! Maddie was so excited to go to the beach today, she came into my room sobbing when she saw the rain. What do we do? I looked at the weather radar, and it looks like the storm will pass in a while, and we could go to the beach. A wet beach, but still could go.

Would anyone be interested in Chuck E Cheese, or is there a playground at a McDonalds or something like that? Any ideas? Help! We'd still love to play today. If people want to come to our house, we could do that too, but I'd have to stop the party around 1:00 to protect John's sleep.

I don't know what to do. Help! If I don't hear from anyone before 9:30, I'll send out another email letting people know the decision.

7-30-08 -- Later Family Beach -- 10 AM

Repeat! We're meeting at the Later family beach again. For those of you who missed it the first time, this place is spectacular! Check your email for and address.

7/2/08 -- Family Beach -- 10 AM

My friend has invited us to her family's beach for tomorrow's activity. She has a bathroom and a large beach for everyone to use. Her home is on the Niantic/Waterford peninsula across from Milestone. She describes the beach, as "uncrowded, and very shallow (not much more than waist at high tide)with a sandbar. The shallow water keeps the water warmer than other beaches."

Esker Point again for 6/25

It's proving to be a very popular place for us, and no one else :) The kids just love this beach, it's perfect because no one else seems to be there. The snack bar opened up this week, the showers and bathrooms are close. What more could we ask for -- oh, FREE!

Come and join us on 6/25 -- sure to be great fun. Let's plan on 10 AM. People end up staying until around 2 PM, so if you're a bit late, don't fret -- you can still find us!

Free week at Florence Griswold

Free Admission to the Florence Griswold Museum for New London County residents this week -- June 24 through June 29th. Just present proof of residency, and you'll save $10 per adult and $6 per child. Yippee!!!! They have a new exhibit this summer from American impressionist works that lived abroad. Should be worth a free visit.

If any of you go, let us know. We're just up the street and would love to either go with or have you over after. It's open 10 AM until 5 PM most days. We'll probaby swing by on Tuesday afternoon if anyone is interested.

Suggestions???

Last week, we had a group discussion about the schedule for the rest of the summer. People are concerned that gas prices are too high to be gallivanting all over Connecticut. I have to agree. So, we thought we'd do our best to find beaches or parks close by. We're also hoping for free, or as close to it as we can get.

Any suggestions?

This week, the weather isn't looking spectacular, but possible. Let's meet at Esker Point Park in Groton at 10:00 AM again. It might not be the best beach day, but it should be fun anyhow.

Gas Strike -- Going to Groton instead

OK, so all of you regular attendees voted to have a gas strike, and boycott the one hour drive to Lighthouse Point Park-- wise move!

We're going to be meeting at Esker Point Park in Groton instead. It's a beach with parking, bathrooms and apparently is pretty nice. Let's meet at 10 AM.

Call if you've got questions!

Wednesday 6/4 -- Chuck E Cheese -- 11 AM

Chuck E Cheese. Let's plan on 11:00 AM as the start time. I've sent an email with coupons attached.

The address for Chuck E Cheese is:

389 N. Frontage Rd. New London (860) 444-2526

See you there!

May 28th -- Patch House -- Bad weather back-up

OK, so I've been watching the weather all day, trying to make the call. Some people think we're going to Lighthouse Point Park, and others think we're headed to Fort Trumbull. UGH! Sorry for all the confusion.

I don't want to miss out on either option, so I'm going to call a play date at my house since people know that's the "bad weather" backup. I just don't think it's warm enough to go to Lighthouse Point Park and be happy.

Our house will be open for play and fun from 10:00 - 5:00. I'll send details for address and phone number in an email for privacy purposes.

Bring food, a swimming suit(we'll let them play in the sprinkler if it warms up) and plan on having a fun day together.
